Interview: Fear Street’s Olivia Scott Welch

by Charles Trapunski

Fear Street‘s Olivia Scott Welch is something of a movie buff (she adores Big Fish, The Shining, Moulin Rouge! and There Will Be Blood, to name a few), so I knew right away that we’d get along splendidly. The Hurst, Texas-born Aquarian is developing projects of her own, building on the reinvention of R.L. Stine’s novels in the Leigh Janiak-directed Netflix trilogy and feels at home in the horror or “horror adjacent” genre portraying Samantha Fraser and embarking on a romance rarely seen in horror films with Kiana Madeira’s Deena Johnson. Welch also gives a strong performance in the Amazon series Panic alongside Ray Nicholson, as well as in Cooper Raiff’s SXSW revelation Shithouse.

The following is an edited and condensed version of my insightful one-on-one video interview with Olivia Scott Welch.
