Interview: The Calling’s Jeff Wilbusch and Juliana Canfield

by Leora Heilbronn

It was truly an honour to chat over Zoom video recently with The Calling stars Jeff Wilbusch (who plays the interestingly named Avraham Avraham) as well as Juliana Canfield (who plays Detective Janine Harris, but you might recognize her from the HBO series Succession as Jess Jordan, the executive assistant of Kendall Roy). Wilbusch has previously prominently appeared in a pair of Netflix limited series: Unorthodox and Keep Breathing, both of which were standout shows for us (in fact his enigmatic performances in every project are worth a watch). The pair spoke with Brief Take during the junket about their love for working with each other on the thrilling new Peacock crime drama. As well, Wilbusch and Canfield revealed their favourite moments from the swelteringly hot New York set of the show, their all-time most memorable co-stars, and what they have been watching lately.

Guided by a deep sense of spirituality and religious principles, The Calling tells the story of NYPD Detective Avraham Avraham, whose belief in mankind is his superpower when it comes to uncovering the truth. Guided by a deep sense of spirituality and religious principles, Avraham is left to question his own humanity when a seemingly routine investigation turns upside down.
